Mali Van Valenberg grew up in Sierre. Having completed her bilingual A-levels, she moved to Geneva to continue her musical training (percussion and piano) whilst also taking up theatre at the conservatoire. At the age of 21, she decided to devote herself to her theatre training and could not resist the call of the City of Light, Paris. She trained at the Ecole du Studio d’Asnières.

She performed in theatre productions directed by Mathias Langhoff, Pascal Parsat, Chantal Déruaz, Patrick Simon, Yveline Hamon, Jean-Louis Martin-Barbaz, Caroline Weiss and Marie Normand, amongst others. She landed a number of roles on television and in several short films, notably “Billes en tête” by Santosh Pfammatter (a director from Valais), screened at the Short Film Corner in Cannes, and “L’Amour Bègue” by Jan Czarlewski (a recent graduate of ECAL), which won a Silver Leopard at the 2012 Locarno Film Festival and was in competition at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. She landed her first major film role in Francis Reusser’s “Ma nouvelle Héloïse”. She has written two short films (“Juliette, dans son bocal”, screened at the Théâtre du Rond-Point, and “Billes en tête”) as well as a short play (“Rien de plus normal”, performed at the Théâtre du Rond-Point as part of the inter-conservatoire competitions), in which she also appears as an actress.
She is currently on tour with “Pinocchio”, directed by Caroline Weiss, and “Roulez jeunesse!” by Luc Tartar, directed by Marie Normand, and is starring in Francis Reusser’s feature film “Ma nouvelle Héloïse”.
