After studying the accordion for five years with Stéphane Chapuis alongside piano at the Sion Conservatoire, Théodore Monnet went on to pursue professional studies in classical accordion, obtaining a bachelor’s degree before continuing with a master’s degree at the ZHdK in Zurich. Since 2022, he has been the head of the accordion class at the EMA in Geneva.
In May 2015, he won first prize in his category at the Swiss Accordion Competition and in October 2017, he distinguished himself once again by taking first place in his category at the World Accordion Trophy. He performs regularly in concert, both as a soloist and in ensembles, with artists such as Brigitte Balleys, Marc Crofts and Stefano Saccon.
Théodore is involved in numerous projects, including new works, performances and plays, and is regularly invited by venues and festivals to give recitals. He has notably taken part in the premiere of ‘Fréhel, c’est moi’ at the Théâtre de Carouge, the premiere and various revivals of ‘Edith, ma soeur’ at the Théâtre des Amis, Théâtre des Osses and Théâtre du Dé, at the Revue de Genève in 2023, 2024 and 2025, the premiere of the show “Horizons chimériques” in Lausanne, the premiere of the “Derborence” project in 2025, and the premiere of Mario Pacchioli’s REMAS project with the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden. Her accordion can also be heard in films such as “À bras-le-corps” (2025) and “Làstima” (2026).
Her favourite styles are classical music, tango, Balkan music, concertante variety, musette and jazz.
