He made his debut in the roles of Figaro and Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro in 2017, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte in 2018, and Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni in 2019 as part of the Primo Palcoscenico project.
In 2020, he was cast as Count Almaviva in the Opera Studio Le Nozze di Figaro, conducted by Susanna Rigacci and Maurizio Colasanti for the Go Opera Festival.
In November 2021, he was chosen by David Patrick Murray to play Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese.
In April 2022, he won third place in the national competition for young opera singers ‘Voce D’Angelo’, organised by the cultural association Parma Lirica.
In 2023, he played the Peasant in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at the Teatro Regio in Parma, conducted by Andrea Battistoni and directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
In 2024, he played Sharpless in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly for Sarzana Lirica; Fiorello / The Officer in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Goldoni; Danilo in Lehar’s The Merry Widow at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo and the Teatro Regio in Parma.
In 2025, he made his debut in the role of Giorgio Germont in La Traviata at the Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto in Venice and at the Eco Teatro in Milan, conducted by Giuseppe Famulario. He also performed the role of Doctor Malatesta in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale for the first time in Ercolano and San Gimignano.
Gianmarco Durante has also won various international opera competitions, such as the San Colombano Competition in Piacenza, the Fausto Ricci Competition in Viterbo, the Giancarlo Aliverta Competition, the Magda Olivero Competition in Milan and the Neapolitan School Competition.
In addition to his operatic activities, he is regularly invited to perform in chamber music and sacred music concerts.
President and co-founder of the cultural association HOPEra TRIO, he currently resides in Parma, where he continues his training with Hisako Tanaka.
