The Trio Areal was founded in 2021 at the Zurich University of the Arts in Zurich.
Three talented and promising young musicians, Daria, Jamila and Sandro, began playing together in the famous Toni Areal building, where the idea for the trio’s name was born. Although they come from different parts of the world, the three musicians each have a very diverse cultural background. All three have an ability to play with great musical expression that never leaves the audience indifferent, a strong desire to explore and share their personal stories through well-known repertoire, as well as to discover repertoire for the trio that is not yet popular worldwide.
Daria, Jamila and Sandro are considered young soloists, each of them having won prestigious prizes, scholarships and international and Swiss competitions, performing as soloists with symphony and chamber orchestras as well as in chamber music with renowned musicians from around the world. Living and studying in Switzerland has enabled the young trio to take lessons with leading chamber music teachers such as Marc Pantillon, Till Fellner, Cobus Swanepoel, Thomas Grossenbacher and Ilya Gringolts. Each teacher firmly believes in the Trio Areal’s bright future career due to its strong musical expression and vision of the repertoire. The trio performs actively in German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland, in concert series such as the Fondation Louis Moret, the Crans-Montana Classics festival, the Yehudi Menuhin Forum, Konzert um 5 and Spezial – Konzert um 5 Winterthur, the ‘La Chapelle aux Concerts, Couvet’ festival, the ‘Forum du Collège Bâbord, Preverenges’ concert series, The Spheres, and Studio Odradek live. On 24 January, Trio Areal released a CD on the international Odradek label, an opportunity they secured by winning an audition offered by the label. The CD was recently featured on Rai Radio 3 in Italy, with the CD programme already reviewed in Pizzicato magazine in Luxembourg. The CD is now available on Spotify, Apple Music and Asian platforms.
