At the age of 5, Lyam Chenaux chose the cello (G. Leclerc) and, from the age of 8, performed in numerous concerts in Switzerland and abroad (E. Goffart). He made his debut as a soloist at the age of 10 with the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of David Švec. It was on this occasion that he met Denis Severin, who has since become his teacher at the Geneva–Neuchâtel University of Music. Since then, he has collaborated with numerous orchestras. Lyam is a laureate of the Swiss Music Competition in all categories (soloist, early music, composition and trio), as well as numerous international competitions and special prizes, including the Classicalia 2023 finals and the International Popper Cello Competition Popper Cello Competition (Hungary). In 2025, he won several first prizes and special prizes at the Young Musician Tallinn Competition and the David Geringas International Cello Competition (Lithuania). He represented Switzerland and Liechtenstein at the Thomas Kuti Prize in Dublin, where he was a finalist and received a special prize. At the age of 12, Lyam joined the virtuoso ensemble LGT Young Soloists (conducted by Alexander Gilman) and made his debut on major international stages. Since 2025, he has been a scholarship holder at the Liechtenstein Academy of Music, where he regularly participates in intensive training weeks. Apart from music, he is interested in cycling, watchmaking, chess, political science and motor sports.
