New this year: a famous violin maker in Crans-Montana!
Crans-Montana Classics will be welcoming violin maker Jan Strick from the famous Maison Bernard, founded in 1868, to the Master classes from 28 July to 3 August. With over 40 years’ experience, Jan Strick, expert luthier, is consulted all over the world on Italian, Flemish and French violin making. Together with Pierre Guillaume, bow-maker, he runs this violin-making company, the oldest on the European continent. In Crans-Montana, Jan Strick will be accompanied by his son Matthijs. You can meet them at two public meetings where they will be talking about their work and offering demonstrations. Jan Strick will talk about Cremona’s golden age: 1550 – 1650 – Amati and Ruggeri families. Our musical director Michaël Guttman, with his violin, will be taking part in these exceptional demonstrations.
6pm – Free public Master Class by Miguel da Silva – Hôtel Royal
The connection between Crans-Montana Classics and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium was forged through the joint organization of classical concerts. This summer, CMClassics is pleased to announce chamber music master classes in partnership with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel from July 28 to August 3 in Crans-Montana. Talented young musicians will benefit from the teaching of four outstanding professors in the heart of the Valais Alps: Corina Belcea, Frank Braley, Miguel da Silva, and Antoine Lederlin. The public will be invited to concerts, public master classes, and informal gatherings around this unique educational experience. Belgian musical excellence at your doorstep !
