The Citadelle Quartet is a young French quartet founded in 2024. Its members share a common enthusiasm for the string quartet repertoire and a shared commitment to musical fidelity. The Citadelle Quartet views the quartet as a laboratory, a space for experimentation and constant self-reflection. Their work is also inspired by literature, a passion shared by all four musicians.
The Citadelle Quartet are studying at the CNSMDP in the classes of François Salque and Jean Sulem, and on the ‘concertist course’ at the CRR in Paris in Miguel Da Silva’s class. They have also received guidance from members of the Ebène Quartet, the Belcea Quartet, the Strada Quartet, Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), Eugene Drucker (Emerson Quartet) and Marc Coppey (Ysaÿe Quartet). They regularly take part in masterclasses at ProQuartet – European Centre for Chamber Music, where they are the junior resident ensemble for 2025–2027.
The Citadelle Quartet took part in the Rencontres Musicales de La Baule festival, during which they shared the stage with François Salque and Manuel Vioque-Judde. As part of the ‘Génération Chaise-Dieu’ programme, the Citadelle Quartet was in residence at the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu in August 2024. The musicians performed at the Festival de la Roque d’Anthéron in August 2025.
The Citadelle Quartet received the special “Cordes en Ballade” prize, awarded by the Debussy Quartet at the FNAPEC’s 2024 European “Musiques d’ensemble” Competition.
