The Kuma Quartet was founded in 2025 with the help of mentor Miguel da Silva at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth. The quartet is made up of Japanese musicians with distinguished careers in Japan and Europe. Individually, Rino won second prize at the 10th Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in 2022, Hina won first prize at the 16th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in 2022, Tatsuki won third prize and the special prize at the ARD Competition in the string quartet category, and Takumi is La Monnaie de Munt’s 2nd soloist. From September 2024, the Kuma Quartet will be in residence at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, in the class of Corina Belcea, Miguel da Silva and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden.
