Classes de Crans-Montana Classics (CMClassics) étant l'anglais, nous
faisons appel à votre compréhension pour le fait que cette page n'existe
live with their host family. The host family provides a room for them
only. Participants who wish to bring a family member will be responsible
for assuming the costs involved. The organization can help with
providing apartment and/or hotel addresses.
Those participants accepted into the 2017 Master Classes should not arrive later or leave earlier than specified (arrival on July 31st, before 5:30 pm and departure the next morning of the last Master Class on August 13th), and must not be absent for any reason during the Master Classes without written/formal permission from the Master Classes Director. Participants are also obliged to advise the CMC office of their travel plans four weeks in advance of the Master Classes course.
CV/Resume: CVs must be prepared in English and in a professional CV format, limited to 120 words. This material will be used for your presentation at the Master Classes and for the concert programs. Longer CVs or CVs unsuitable for concert programs will be rejected. You can find a sample CV format for guidance here.
Be sure to list:
- Any honors or prizes you have received in the past five years.
- Your teachers, diplomas and degrees.
Crans-Montana Classics Master Classes are designed for gifted violinists of all nationalities (up to 27 years age), who have attained a high standard of performance. Participants must be able to communicate in and understand English, the official language of the course. Candidates are not allowed to apply for two consecutive years.
Participants will be encouraged to perform in concerts. Schedules and decisions on the concerts are made by the Artistic Director and the Coordinator.
Please bring appropriate concert clothes for both Master Classes and concerts.
A proper presentation on stage is important! For day-to-day clothes, participants are advised to bring at least one pair of sturdy shoes as well as some warm clothing. The weather in the mountains is very unpredictable.
The daily schedule consists of a possible individual lesson and practice in the morning. Master Classes are held in the afternoon from 4 - 7 pm. Participant's concerts will be scheduled in the evening. Students are required to participate in all master Classes and events. The festival administration will decide on programs and participation in concerts based on students' attendance.
Participants must take care of their own arrangements for insurance for health, instrument, and personal belongings/equipment.
Each participant will sign a "Release from Responsibility" form, upon their confirmation of participation in the Master Classes. This form will be sent together with the letter of acceptance to the Master Classes.
Internet access is available at bars and restaurants in Crans; you are obliged to consume something in order to use it. Wi-Fi is free at the tourist office. Of course you can check internet possibilities with your host family upon your arrival.
Host families usually provide breakfast and dinner. A communal lunch is supplied every day at approx. 12:45 pm and attendance is mandatory for all participants.
Media Rights and recordings
Participants are asked to acknowledge that their Master Classes may be filmed, recorded or photographed when required by Crans-Montana Classics' organization and this material be used for publicity purposes of CMClassics. Any other filming by non-authorized person will be done in mutual consent and CMClassics and the Artistic Director will have a final say.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own music scores to Crans-Montana, as well as a copy of each score for the use of the professor in the Master Classes, as well as the piano part for the pianists.
All participants will have the opportunity to perform in the concerts that are organized especially to that end during the Master Classes.
Sander Sittig (The Netherlands) and Alison Rhind (UK) are selected to perform as the pianists for the Master Classes and the concerts. They will be at your daily service to rehearse your repertoire. Scheduling to this end will be discussed and provided every day.
Please provide two high-resolution digital color photos sent by e-mail. These photos will be used for publicity purposes.
Practice rooms are located at "Le Régent". Upon your arrival in Crans a map will be provided.

Registration fee & Master Classes admission
Participants have to transfer the registration fee of 100 CHF upon making their application. Registration fees are not refunded when not accepted to the Master course or in case of cancellation. Once the candidate is accepted to the Master Classes, an admission of 250 CHF needs to be transferred to confirm his/her participation. Costs of the bank transfer should be borne by the sender (*).
Terms and Conditions
Participants must arrive at Crans-Montana preferentially during the afternoon but not later than 5.30 pm on Monday, July 31st, 2017, and remain until Sunday, August 13rd, in the morning. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND THE MASTER COURSE IN FULL.
Tickets for Concerts
Free tickets are provided to Master Classes participants for all official concerts to be held during the course and organized by CMC outside of the MC.
Transportation to Crans:
Flights: Crans-Montana is near Sierre (in the region of Valais). You have 3 airport possibilities:
- Geneva (2 hours and 15 min by train to Sierre, no change of train)
- Zurich (2 and a half hours by train to Sierre, 1 change of train in Visp
- Milan (2 and a half hours by train to Sierre, 1 change of train in Brig).
Participants traveling from arrival Airport to Crans-Montana are advised to take the train at the airport to the town Sierre, the nearest town to Crans-Montana. From there you will be able to take a cable car ("funiculaire") up to Crans. From there we will pick you up to bring you to your host family. Please make sure to provide your travel schedule in time!
